Hacienda del Río Lodge

The lodge occupies three low buildings set among the shade trees of a working coffee farm, ten minutes below Boquete town. Every room opens onto a terrace facing the Caldera river, which is loud enough at night that most guests stop noticing it by the second one. The plantation runs uphill from the last building and the cloud forest starts where it ends, so the birding begins at the door rather than a drive away. Breakfast is picked, dried and roasted on the property. The kitchen will pack a field breakfast for anyone leaving before six for the Quetzal Trail, and the front desk keeps a standing arrangement with the Caldera hot springs for afternoon transfers.
